August 1st is fast approaching and that means the LAUNCH of Her Alien Savior. It is because of you that I even attempted to launch another book this soon.
Yup, I had planned on launching two books in the alien series every year, then focusing on writing two books in my fantasy romance series. So, around 4 books in a year. It seemed reasonable considering I've got kiddos to take care of and summer is pretty much a disaster in trying to do anything but keep my sanity in tact.
Yesterday alone, I was surprised I didn't strangle anyone, most likely myself. The confusion alone would probably have calmed the household chaos for a moment.
Anyways, it is because of you and your support that I was able to write and finish up the newest launch so fast!
I wrote Her Alien Exchange in NaNoWriMo November 2022, and released it as a newsletter exclusive in December. Launched Jewel of the Alien Bandit January 31st, and was thinking I would launch Her Alien Prince around this time, but ended up launching it early on May 1st! Now, Her Alien Savior on August 1st. Then I have Taking Medusa coming out October 3rd, and that still gives me enough time to finish yet another book before the end of the year and have it launched early next year!

Starting my penname Sky Robert was kind of a spare of the moment endeavor, but I just fell in love with alien romances, and kept missing something in the genre. I love the books that are out, but I have a craving for a certain kind of romance and time and time again the alien romances I was reading were enjoyable, but the situations felt surface level to me. (Not all of them)
For instance, I read a bunch of slave tropes and forced proximity where if you really think about it, they fell in love because of fated mate pheromones, and small kindnesses in a Stockholm syndrome kind of situation. (It's why I personally require most of my author shares to confirm with me that their books are not slave tropes.) Not because I don't like slave tropes, but because I can't confirm every single book is done well before I share them. I try to read as much as I can, but I share reading options while books are still in my TBR, still catching up haha. I want a fresh/done well slave trope to pop up. Like the third book of Harper L. Woods What Lurks Between the Fates. They are captured in this books, and several characters are slaves to Mab's will (I won't go into spoilers, but the dark fantasy romance series is great, and I love her writing.)
I wanted to write what I wanted to read to fill in the need for a bit more tension between the characters I wanted to bump goodies. There was an alien romance that is very popular where the characters pretty much are already both in love with each other from the very first bang, and the story stopped being about their romance and more about them fighting a problem against the universe together.
There is nothing wrong with that, but I don't like it in my romance. I don't want them to accept their love before closer to the end of the book. I want doubts and problems that they have to overcome together while they aren't certain about things, or at least there is some kind of internal conflict in the relationship that feels real.
I usually like to include some kind of political intrigue for an outside conflict, and I like this particular conflict best because political intrigue is one of the loveliest ways to have villains that are only villains to the story you are currently reading, and when you find their motives and influences it is just as likely to see a hero in the next, who had their hand forced.
I like the layers involved in letting the world react to what the characters are doing within it. The conflicts that one book solves, creates others in the next.
Some of you may not like my stories because of those layers. A story may never feel completely finished, because there are plot elements still hanging around to be picked up by the next couple, but that's what makes me love the universe so much. And why I'm excited to write the next one.
And who knows, maybe you'll convince me to go back to a previous couple and watch them interact with the chaos of the universe once more and overcome the challenges of saying, 'yes' every day to their relationship. That's what true romance is, you may be fated to meet someone, fated to fall in love, but true lasting romance is a choice.
Their bodies may choose their mates, or fate chooses, but really, it boils down to each partner choosing to stay. That's what relationships are, that's what romance is, choosing them, choosing yourself, choosing happiness, choosing to push through conflict to find that happiness again and again.
That's what I like to write, and that's why my books are always HEAFN, they are standalones with their happily ever after of accepting that they've found their mate, and choosing to accept them, but I could easily go back to any one of my couples and have another story for them of them pushing through conflict to find each other all over again, because that's what every couple does just on a less grand scale.
