Welcome to the fantastical side of romance with magic and myth, , This is the MONTHLY Edition of S.M. McCoy's Fantasy Author Newsletter!
HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO YOU!
I know not all of you celebrate thanksgiving, and honestly, I don't even cook up a turkey, but I do enjoy spending some time together with my family. There is usually plenty of food. My favorite dish is the sweet yams and the honey ham. No, I didn't plan for it to rhyme. Those are the two things I put on my plate and I'm usually upset with my belly for not being able to eat a second helping.
Thanksgiving and family is actually influencing a few scenes that I'm writing in book three of Medusa's story. For those who have read Taking Medusa and Breaking Fate, they know at the end of book two it sets up for Medusa to be stranded. I know, some of you might be GASPING. Am I about to spoil the books?
No, I don't think so. It's vague enough that it doesn't spoil anything. The main question that inspired this retelling was "What if Medusa's story was told by the villains, and monsters were simply gods that Olympians were afraid of?"
Medusa deserved her own side of things, and though I do use a lot of the Greek Mythology foundations, I've looked at it through the lense of the stories not having the full story, but a skewed version of events to make the villains seem like heroes.
In Book Three, I want the characters to have more time to bond without the chaos of the fast plot pacing. Book Three will still have lots of plot, but romance and connection are going to be more prevalent in book three. And of course, I'm aiming for that spicy moment when they both accept their feelings. Or at least, not deny themselves their feelings.
Thanksgiving is a time of reflection and appreciation. I get excited when writing scenes where Medusa opens up, and she isn't truly alone in an uphill battle against a prophecy that may result in her death and the true death of all the deathless gods. Perhaps you'll start a tradition of instead of sharing only food, everyone gathers to read books and relax. I'll have my book ready. We can read together today!
Taking Medusa is my slow-burn Medusa Romantasy and if you haven't already, you can start reading right away! Start with Taking Medusa and read on through to the newly released Breaking Fate! Both books are available in Kindle Unlimited and Audible!

Getting too much email? Reply back to this email with "Monthly" in the message and I'll move you over to my once a month letter usually sent out around the 15th of the month.
Please do not click that SPAM button. I'm a small indie author, even 1 single spam complaint out of my small 3,000 sized list of subscribers sends my newsletter OVER the "green" zone of below .01%. Anything over this percentage causes other readers who want to hear from me to potentially not see my emails as it hurts deliverability to their inboxes.
You are on my email list because you opted in either by grabbing my free book, finding me on the interwebs, or by joining a book giveaway geared towards meeting new authors such as myself. If you found yourself here by any other means, you're welcome to unsubscribe at anytime. I do not go around adding emails all willy nilly. I'm a one-person show here, and can't afford to have people on my list that don't want to be here. I follow all guidelines and laws regarding newsletters.
Disclaimer: sometimes my links have affiliate tags associated with them, this in no way influences who I decide to share with you on my newsletter, nor does it impact your experience with discovering new books. If anything, any affiliate links used help authors, including myself, subsidize the costs associated with staying in business. For instance, using a tagged link helps us see whether someone found our books from our own marketing efforts or through some other means, also with Amazon specifically, that puts a couple extra pennies from grabbing one of our books back to the author from the big company. More of your money goes to the author, and your costs remain the same. My affiliate links have regularly covered the cost of maintaining this newsletter. So, if anything, click on a link for my books, and even if you are not buying my book, feel free to go about your usual Amazon shopping to help support my books through stuff you would normally buy anyways. Stick it to "the man" and support indie authors while you do it. This has been a PSA announcement from yours truly. Sky
