Hey ,
This is the weekly Thursday NL + Monthly update for S.M. McCoy and also for SKY ROBERT for all things fantastical sci-fi fantasy and paranormal adventures with a splash of romance. (and alien romance!) This newsletter is for everyone today!
If you are on this NL it is because you joined a giveaway like AuthorsXP, BookSweeps, grabbed a copy of My Abett, Kingdom of Acatalec, or spotted my Divine series around and thought that author seems cool, and I would like to stay in touch! Or grabbed Her Alien Exchange, Read Her Alien Prince or Jewel of the Alien Bandit!
Welcome to SUMMER!
It's still chilly where I'm at, come back sun!
UPDATE: This newsletter was supposed to go out YESTERDAY, on Thursday... but there was a glitch with SendFox that locked up my whole account and nothing was sent, and even some of my changes I was making to this newsletter did not stick. (I'm unsure if I fixed the whole newsletter to be as it was before the glitch, so I apologize if a link malfunctions or perhaps something I meant to say didn't make it back on the newsletter.)
There was a small period of time that I was freaking out because MAYBE this was them unceremoniously terminating my account due to spam complaints or something. Yes, that is possible, they can cancel my account without notice, so please do just click the unsubscribe if you don't want to be on my newsletter instead of clicking spam. I only want people who want to be here, I R human over here, and I try my best to make this newsletter enjoyable.
Luckily, it was just a glitch not being terminated like my active imagination suggested, but it did ruin a perfectly good writing day because my brain was obsessing over it. I got access back today, thankfully, but life happens. Thanks for sticking with me! Now, on to the author schedule and updates, and don't forget to check out the indie highlight for the day! I love finding indie authors like myself, and if it seems like something you like then give it a try.
Prepare yourself this is a LONG NEWSLETTER, take it in chunks if you must, it has the indie highlight, feel free to just scroll and find it, it also has my planned launch schedule, including Her Alien Savior, an anthology submission, Kingdom of Acatalec, Heart of Darkness, and updates on Taking Medusa.
As some of you may know I write under two names, S.M. McCoy and Sky Robert. I doooo write a bunch, but I am only one person with only a finite amount of availability to write, and with the summer coming up I have to inform you that my son's school gets out next Friday! And my daughter's daycare is paused for the summer...
What does this mean?
It means I will not have as much time to write/edit/market/be as present during the summer times as I am required to adult, be a parent, and actually participate in society/family functions.
I will still reply to every message, you are my VIP by being on this newsletter, I prioritize any message received from this newsletter, but it does mean that my response time will be delayed after next Friday. I'm pretty good about getting the DING on my phone from people emailing and I reply if I'm not in the car, taking my son to therapy, or otherwise stuffing my face with food, or peeing on the toilet in record time. This may not change, I may still reply super-fast, and other times... it may take me a bit longer with adulting in the way.
What does this mean for writing/ upcoming releases?
Delayed, slow going during the summer months. I've done my best to utilize my time to get Taking Medusa all set to go. The hardcover is launched on Amazon, which means you can pick it up and read the book before anyone else, before the ebook launch on October 3rd, 2023.
Take it with you on your own summer breaks, it's hardcover and can take a beating better than a paperback! Grab it from the zon and still want the pre-order perks of the print art and signed book plate and sticker? Go to my author store and just grab the art print + sticker set and include in the notes your hardcover order number from the zon and I'll include the book plate.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE!
Okay, so it looks like my whole upcoming schedule I wrote down, didn't make it through the glitch I'm rewriting all of this, hopefully I remember everything I said, and sorry for the lengthy email, but literally a bunch of plans...
So, due to summer months and having to adult and socialize with family and the kids not being in school. I will be focusing my time on finishing up Her Alien Savior from my Sky Robert platform for spicy alien romances. This is because of my boo boo of entering the pre-order date as AUG instead of OCT, don't ask me why or how I glazed over this when I hit that submit button on KDP.
For those of you who have pre-ordered Her Alien Savior, it is still on Schedule, though I will admit launching Taking Medusa has delayed this book going into ARC mode, so if you've applied for the ARC team, please be patient with me. Originally, the book was supposed to be an average 60k alien romance length, and well... it's longer because my characters don't listen to me.
With Taking Medusa all set up and getting some great traction with ARC readers, I'm now focusing on finishing up Her Alien Savior: https://books.steviemarie.com/heraliensavior
NEWS! I joined a sci-fi romance anthology!
Smacks head, what are you thinking? Like I don't have enough on my plate... Well, a prequel to the Trillume Universe before the alien exchange about a smut lover's alien romance book that turns out to be an illegal alien communication device that connects her with her fated alien mate! I've written 6k into this book so far, and it will be included in an anthology supposed to launch December 2023, more news on that to come. This is what I will finish up next after Her Alien Savior.
I also committed to narrating for Laura Thompson's Elven Quest series, I'm around 40% through narrating it, but I need to get this done this summer when I pawn the kids off on the parents, so there will be days that would have otherwise been writing, dedicated to narrating instead. It's a fun coming of age elven adventure series, definitely YA, available in KU. https://www.amazon.com/Burden-Destiny-Elven-Quest-Book-ebook/dp/B07NTXZDX8/
Those are the three things I will be working on during summer, I will resume my regularly scheduled writing/power-house launching in September. So, you can expect my next project I will dedicate and focus on is Kingdom of Acatalec's book two: Acatalec Chosen (it is already written... I simply have lots of edits to do to it. I'm unsatisfied with its current state, and have a bunch of added scenes, deleted scenes, flushing out to do.) September and October when the kids are both back in daycare and school I will focus on this project and then schedule out a launch plan.
I've reserved NOVEMBER, NANOWRIMO (National Novel Writing Month) to write book two of Taking Medusa, the Dark Gods Rising series. I hope to get more than 50k words written during that month, but I expect to have this book's rough draft completed by the end of the year, and possibly have a launch date around April 2023.
After this my next focus is on Her Alien Insurgent of the Treasures of Trillume Series that I hope to have up for preorder in January, writing during January-February, and edit March, and launch around April as well.
THEN, my loves, I want to work on finishing up my fae adventure romance Heart of Darkness, currently at 160k words (around two books worth) I debated launching this as a series of three books (two already written, just needs editing.) But, I plan on doing my most ambitious and LARGEST launch yet.
I want to launch this story complete, ALL THREE installments in ONE LARGE BOOK next year. So, after my plans above I will finish writing book three, and set a launch plan for the WHOLE story, (probably set to launch around October 2024.) It's ambitious, but I think I can get it all done.
I might tinker around with finishing up my werewolf alpha pack romance adventure in between projects, or my vampire romance I've been working on, but the main squeezes are above! This is a LOT to try to pack into the next year, I will probably take a month break to avoid some burn out, but overall, I think it's doable.
I'm blown away by the response on the ARC team so far with Taking Medusa! Four reviews have come in with 5 stars on GR, and a SUPER awesome 4-star review by Leah that blew my mind away! But what really makes my heart swell is that I've had the LARGEST interest in ARC readers yet. Just yesterday (Now the day before yesterday) alone, I had 20 people sign up on my ARC reader form to join the Taking Medusa launch team!
If you signed up for the ARC team, don't forget to check your junk/spam folder to make sure your welcome email wasn't devoured. All ARCs are sent through certified download from [email protected] (so check your spam folder and do a search if you signed up for the ARC team)
Thank you LaWanda for being my first reviewer! So happy you enjoyed the book!
"This is such an amazing book! I rarely find a book that is this good anymore. I like reading Greek mythology and Medusa has been a favorite character for a long while but there is not many books out there that really catch my attention like this one did. If you are into reading a Greek mythology retelling, give this one a try. You won't regret it! This is a story that will be continued in a series but doesn't end with an abrupt cliffhanger thank goodness. I can not wait for the next one!"- LaWanda
Thank you to Nathan for pointing out a couple of typos that missed the sweep, and gobbling up the book in record time!
"I absolutely loved the book. It was highly entertaining and interesting. I look forward to reading the next book." - Nathan
Thank you so much and a special thank you to Sandy and Erin who also finished the book and found a few typos to help make the book shine for future readers!
And A HUGE SPECIAL THANK YOU to LEAH!
OMG! She is a pro reviewer, like this is the level of review you get from places like Kirkland Review and big shot review sites, and I'm so honored, it literally made me smile so big! She could be a magazine reviewer!
Absolutely check it out and give her a "like" on that review!

Read the whole thing on GR! Follow her for more excellent reviews! So honored. Thank you so much, Leah!
If you're on the ARC team and finished reading you can add your reviews to GR like Leah, and you can copy and paste your review to Amazon on the Hardcover! They don't allow reviews on pre-orders, but the hardcover is launched so reviews are welcomed!
You can support this series by becoming a verified reader on the zon here: https://books.steviemarie.com/takingmedusa
I've got the hardcover and paperbacks on preorder in the author shop that will be signed, including ART print and sticker bonus and I will even personally add gold leaf foil to the hardcover to make it pop! This will only be available for a limited time in the author store here: Broken Books Publishing - Payhip
*** If you are international (outside of US), please purchase the hardcover through local Amazon, and grab the artprint+sticker set on the author store with a NOTE that includes your hardcover purchase number and I will include a signed bookplate. (bonus, you will probably receive your book sooner than you will receive the extra goodies, haha)

But she’s the key to his and Dal’s future. He promised to take her home. But he may have to break that promise, and his own heart, to save her and Dal.
◆◆◆
Mine to Protect. Mine to Love.
Ri’Nom is a steamy romance where the hero and heroine discover the true meaning of home and love. Prepare for hot romance, raw determination, love, and a lot of twists along the way. This book can be read as a stand-alone but is best enjoyed as part of the series. Each book in the series ends in a very Happy Ever After.
I escaped one prison only to find myself in another. Except this time, my jailer is an irresistible brute.
My owner has grown tired of me. After months of living inside a filthy cage like a pet hamster, I’m returned to where the nightmare of my abduction began—the wall on a planet called Tirius— to be auctioned off like a piece of meat. Instead of being visual entertainment, I’m sold to a disgusting alien who makes no pretenses about his lecherous intentions toward me and the four other human women he’s strung together on a chain.
In a turn of events, we escape and steal a ship. Our luck runs out and we crash land on an emerald moon serving as a remote prison. When I’m found by one of the inmates, not all is as it seems. Beneath the lush, tropical beauty of the moon, something much more sinister awaits.

Indie Kindle Unlimited This was my very first series completed!
A missing mother. A magical birthright. Can she uncover the secrets of her family legacy before the bloodline runs dry?
My name is Chrystal Dylan, and I was born with the worst super power ever, a lightning rod for supernatural energy that attracts vampires like cat nip to feed from. Nothing like being an all you can eat buffet, until one decided to “save” me from that fate by triggering my transition into the very thing killing me.
Considering that was the least of my problems, I have a Council looking to eliminate all anomalies threatening to expose them to the human world, it just so happens that I’m one of them, and so is my best friend Victor. I won’t go down without some answers, including what they did with my mom.
Blood Crescent is the first novel in the exhilarating Divine Series of YA paranormal fantasies. If you like hidden magical realms, fresh new takes on vampire lore, and heartfelt journeys of self-discovery, then you’ll love this spellbinding coming-of-age tale.
