Welcome back to another newsletter for Team Alien Rom!

I tell myself not to look at reviews of my books, which is easier to do once the book reaches 105 ratings or more. The reason why, for most indie authors is because our numbers fluctuate so often. We gain a few reviews, then we lose a few because Amazon is always removing reviews. You can tell based on Goodreads reviews that the difference can be quite a bit.

There are over 145 reviews on Goodreads for Jewel of the Alien Bandit, and 125 ratings on Amazon, so for that book, I'm actually quite pleased that it's retained more reviews than others.

But with Her Alien Savior, there are 126 ratings on Goodreads and 85 on Amazon, which is a greater difference. Some of these are because some people can't review in both places, and even others still there are exclusive Amazon reviewers and exclusive Goodreads reviewers, so usually it's a mixed bag. But I've seen well more than 20 reviews, from legit readers, be removed from one book to the other over the year, so I always get nervous when a book is under 50 reviews on the zon because over the next year, more than half of its reviews could be gone the next time there is a review sweep.

It isn't like Amazon gives reviewers notification when their reviews are taken down. And you can hardly expect people to constantly keep track of such things.

I can't help myself but to look at my books occasionally and then blink a few times when I see the number is less than it was last time. It's more noticeable when every single book goes down by the same number, meaning a fan that has reviewed every one of my books has had their reviews removed from the zon. And in the next day, I can get a 1-star review and then be sad that it doesn't have the fan review to balance it out anymore.

It happens, but it makes my mind spiral about what more can I do to help reach more readers to counteract the inevitable removal of future reviews.

Did you know that less than 20% of readers actually review a book, and more often than not, negative experiences are more likely to be reviewed and shared than positive experiences. While more than 70% of readers require above a 4-star average to consider reading a book.

This is why being a book supporter is super important to indie authors!

If you have read an indie book lately, be a hero, and leave a review in all the places. Just think about your thoughts on the book and write that! It doesn't have to be something you have to be "good" at to leave a review. It can be as simple as "It took me 3 days to finish this book! I stayed up late and lost sleep to read this! It normally takes me a whole month to read a book, but I couldn't put this one down! I got into Alien Romances with Ruby Dixon and I'm so glad I found Sky Robert to continue the addiction. I'm not normally into exhibitionism, but I fell in love with the Trillume Universe!"

Really, it can be anything to leave a review, just say your thoughts! If you're anything like me you read a book, it's a 5-star enjoyment read but you might struggle to remember exactly why you liked something, or even the names of the characters you just read about. I'm the same way. But I can remember I read a book super fast, or couldn't stop thinking about reading what was next until I finished it. Literally, just put thoughts to review, even if it's just, "So glad I found this alien romance, can't wait for the next adventure!" Put your own spin on things.

Be a book hero today and every day in the future by adding a few words to your future reviews for indie authors that you love!

When you grab the book direct, more pennies are kept with the author. For every 99 penny book, an indie makes around 35 cents from Amazon.

Direct, I get around 50 cents depending on if you use Stripe or Paypal as your payment method through my author store. That's 40% more pennies in the author's pocket by grabbing direct!

Dragon's Oath: is the next freebie I'm working on to give to everyone on the newsletter! It's a darker alien dragon romance, but with plenty of humorous banter to help take the dark edge off and of course, lovely spice with plot as usual. This will be a series; I have 3 covers picked up to explore this idea with!

Goblin's Treasure: is a darker fae romantasy about being abducted into the Goblin Kingdom with Labyrinth feels but older and spicier.
