Alien Lovers UNITE, ,
Welcome to the smuttier side of romance books with alien peens and the mates that love them.
Indie Temptations on KU that seem to fit my theme today of rejection: Alien's Rejected Bride by Aurora Storm and The Dragon Prince's Rejected Mate by Amelia Wilson
Recently, I discovered someone tried to tell my mom that my books were never going to make a million dollars. The tone of the statement indicated this person didn't think my books would ever amount to anything, simply a hobby that my husband drains money into.
No, it wasn't my husband. He's actually very supportive and secondly, I do not use money from our funds for my author start up. Even if I did, it would be none of this person's business.
So, one, the person knows nothing about how I support my author business, because I saved up my own money to launch this career. Secondly, I'm launching this career during a time I wouldn't have been able to work a regularly scheduled work day because of our kids, one that just turned four years old yesterday, and one that is special needs and goes to therapy. If I went to a regular office job, we would be spending thousands of dollars every month on day care for my daughter, as well as not being able to consistently be available in the office because of taking my son to therapy.
Many people would think that is enough on their plate as it is and they would be right. But stories are in my soul, and regardless I will always be writing or reading something. So, I take what time I do have and write, edit, read, and even narrate audiobooks in between my other responsibilities.
Will I have this conversation with my secret hater that talks about me behind my back to someone who actually believes in me? No, I will not.
While many authors would struggle to overcome this sinking gross feeling of self doubt, imposter syndrome, and what's the point of it all, I'm a stubborn bastard that knows I saved up for my own business start-up costs, it does not take away from my family, my business is self sustainable and close to breaking even on a few of my books to help pay down the initial launch costs.
I KNOW my business model and know that businesses no matter the industry are not profitable for 2-3 years. I have a spreadsheet, a plan, and I'm on a path of making my author career a profitable and sustainable job by the time my youngest is in school.
Will I shove it in this person's face when I'm successful?
No, because all I have to do is celebrate my milestones and successes as I normally would, reveling in the fact that I made it happen, and that they have to live with the knowledge that they doubted me.
The difference between success and failure? Perserverance. Many people give up before they reap any rewards, and I am much too stubborn to fail.
There many be bumps along the road, but it isn't failing unless you quit.
My friend Jeff sent me an Instagram quote about writers making magic, and it's because of people like him, my husband, and my mom that I can push through the negativity of haters, brushing it off and pushing on. Though, even without that support, I would still be a stubborn ass, and just add on the list of haters that I will secretly revel in their mistake of doubting me when I succeed.
I've converted the quote for alien peens and sci-fi romance below:
"I write down words and make people thousands of miles away, whom I've never met, and will probably never meet, get excited about new wonderous worlds, share tears, laughs and frustrations for people who do not exist and have never existed and never will exist. Create fantastical emotional experiences that they can be voyeurs of pleasure for building self confidence, self acceptance, inclusivity of differences with alien species, increasing sex drive for couples, and filling the imaginations for self love and healing. If that isn't magic then I don't know what is."
Thank you to everyone who has supported me in my author journey and reads my stories of smut with plot and strong characters that make you escape for just a little bit, and promote caring, supportive love interests even if they are a bit alien with different cultures and a protective streak. Alien August is still in full swing, and it was a lofty goal to reach the same amount of pages read for Her Alien Prince's release month, as technically Her Alien Savior is a different series with an acquired alien taste of exhibitionism, primal play, blood play, and even an FFM scene before the fated mates bond together.
With all new series there is a dip in readers because it's something new and sometimes has a different readership, and for all those mood readers out there, the mood for Her Alien Savior might pop up in a different month, maybe September? haha.
Updated Pages Read GOALS for Alien August:
19,598/36,088 Pages read in Kindle Unlimited for Her Alien Savior
If we combine all pages read across the Trillume Universe we are at 27,481 pages read for the month!
It doesn't seem like much, but trust me, as an indie just starting out, I'm thrilled to have a consistent readership that keeps trickling in.
KU pays authors around .0038 cents per page read.
So, around 100 dollars for an entire month isn't full-time authordom yet, but it's a steppingstone in the right direction!
You know that spreadsheet I talked about before?
An author goal for me is to get to 36,000 pages read in a single day, which is a sustainable income just from Kindle Unlimited.
I started on January 31st with only 12,500 pages read on Jewel of the Alien Bandit for all of February. 9,000 March, 10,000 April, 47,000 May with Her Alien Prince's release, 12,000 June, 8,000 July, (27,481) for August with Her Alien Savior's release. These are only KDP pages read numbers, this isn't including people who have grabbed the books.
KDP is around 30% of my author income.
And with the consistency and pages read so far, and I believe this will only increase with every book release.
According to my spreadsheet I am $115 away from breaking even on Her Alien Prince's launch costs, and $225 away from breaking even on Her Alien Savior's launch costs. I'm excited to see which one will break even first, and it's possible to see that happen next month!
Hopefully, a wonderful little birthday present to myself. My Birthday is the 21st!
Can you believe it? In a few short months, I will have two of my books pay for their own launch costs, and start paying down the business start up costs! Honestly, I had a conservative estimation of when my business would be profitable, and it's possible I'll beat those expectations.
WE MADE IT to 50 reviews/ratings on Goodreads!
And we're at 25 on Amazon, so we are HALF way there!

Lovely thoughts on Newly Released Her Alien Savior!
"This story that is about Riley a human and Commander Direl a Necia warrior was a very enjoyable alien romance to read. Riley signed up to the Human Exchange Trade hoping to be adopted by an alien family. Riley gets chosen by Klemon to go to Trillume only on her way there her shuttle gets boarded by Necia warriors. Riley finds out she's been adopted to a Trill that's a criminal. Direl was betrayed and drugged unconscious by King Sylve. Direl awakens with restrain cuffs on him and in a cell with Riley. He finds himself drawn toward her and experiencing the systems of the rut. What occurs afterwards is an engaging, action-packed, romantic story I enjoyed and devoured. Loved our couple and their chemistry in this copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review." - BossAngel
"What an adventure this was! Political intrigue, spaceship mutiny, scheming crew mates and one totally oblivious human female kept me enthralled from the beginning. I really liked Riley but thought she was a little naive when others explained what was really going on. Direl held it together way better than I thought he would, especially when his crew mate tried and darn near succeeded in claiming Riley for herself. Whew was that scene tense! I can’t wait to read more in this series." - Amazon Reviewer Carmen
Thank you so much for sharing your thoughts!

Where you'll get to know estreld spy Gaven and human tech wizard Ashley better while on planet Krelis uncovering the schemes of krelin and estreld politics and subterfuge!
Gaven:
I didn’t get the nickname Sky Bender because I popped out of camouflage to enforce compliance of our treaties. It was because I was around to punish those that acted against the better interests of peace… and though I didn’t fly, I saw everything.
I just didn’t see her… getting in my way.
Having a human exchange come to Krelis at a time like this was bad luck, but she kept getting herself involved and I couldn’t keep my distance. F*ck whatever plans I had, I had no choice but to keep her at my side and out of trouble while I stopped Queen Kai and Commander Li-aq from destroying the hive while Mabel was offworld.
Ashley:
This was all wrong. I was so close to finding the outlaw responsible for ruining so many lives. Next thing I knew I was waking up from stasis on the other side of the known universe of Trillume, and my team was nowhere to be seen. Getting off this planet and back to my mission was priority, until I realized this whole planet was ground zero for the Star Breaker’s nanobugs and could hold the key to finally capturing them. If only a stubborn green alien didn’t think he was some kind of savior and preventing me from continuing my search. First, I had to give him the slip, but no matter what I try he keeps showing up, and the way he looks at me makes me hope he never stops finding me.
Book three of the Treasures of Trillume fated mates alien romances, all standalone steamy adventures filled with political intrigue, angsty love, and a few twists and surprises along the way. Intended for mature readers, these couples do not fade to black, and you'll be devouring the pages towards each HEAFN.
Though all of the romances are standalone, it is recommended you read book two, Her Alien Prince, to enjoy this one more, as this one does contain some spoilers for that book. Though knowing the "ending" doesn't always spoil the journey, so it's okay if you read which ever book you want first in the Trillume Universe.

INDIE TEMPTATION HIGHLIGHTS!
She’s been stolen from her home and forced to wed an arrogant Alien King...
Reaching twenty-five without experiencing the Royal Bride Raiders was a miracle.
I'd kept my head down and avoided attention, despite my sister and best friend finding themselves selected in seasons past.
Until one day my luck ran out…
Now, I’ve been taken to a distant planet far from my mother and sister to match with an arrogant Alien King I've never met.
I don’t care if I’m breaking interplanetary laws. I won’t be some baby farm for a self-important alien—no matter how handsome he is.
But I may not have to worry about being chosen as his mate, because I think he hates me—just as much as I hate him.
I wanted a night of freedom before I moved away from home. I never imagined I’d find it with the man who would turn out to be my boss—and so much more!
BROOKE
“It’s his eyes that capture me, though. Gray and piercing, they seem to stare through my soul, and the calm self-assurance in his gaze contributes to the general air of command he exhibits.
He’s handsome. He’s breathtaking. He’s perfect.
And he’s heading my way.”
