I just got a TABLET to ink and color my art! Okay, calling myself an artist is a far stretch, but I did alright for my very first digital attempt at chibi Trent from Her Alien Prince:
I used these brushes that mimic those cool art pens that most manga artists use. So, it very much felt like I was actually drawing and coloring with the tablet. It was a fun little exercise. If I get better at digitizing and coloring, I may decide to do a few fun giveaways with the art.
I'm around 63% through another round of editing Taking Medusa, a romantasy myth retelling from Medusa's POV. I've had one of my Beta Readers Thomas finish reading it so far, and he gave the book a 5/5 and said, "Really enjoyed this! There are so many memorable scenes and images. (Spoiler cut, of memorable scene.) The large-scale plot works too. I admire the way it builds up to the need for Medusa to lead the dark gods against the Olympians. I'm not an expert on Greek mythology, but this story seems to be very much in the spirit of the original stories. I'm assuming that many if not all of the sub-plots about the gods' rivalries, etc. are based on ancient beliefs. If so, they are well researched, and if not, they are sufficiently well-written to seem authentic."

For those of you who do not know who Thomas M. Kane is, he is an excellent author of political intrigue adventures, and I became authorly friends with him through Twitter, and he astonishes me with his generosity and support because he continues to come back and read my books from Kingdom of Acatalec, to now Taking Medusa! I value his input, because I narrated for his Mara of the League series, and really enjoyed his stories, he is such a great writer, though, I keep trying to convince him to continue Mara's story because I SWEAR there is a romance there that could be explored. As always, I can't help myself but to find romance in everything even when it's not intended to be there. Haha. Anyways, check out Mara of the League if you like medieval times where witches were hunted, political intrigue, and a war of ideologies between nations, spies, and a coming of age tale (It is not alien sci-fi, or romance, but I enjoyed it, and his execution of world building and the ins and outs of war and consequences is awesome, my favorite book was book four when Mara becomes such a badass!): https://www.amazon.com/Mara-League-Complete-Books-1-4-ebook/dp/B0B5ZY6VLY/ And if you're anything like me, you don't just have one kind of book you like to read, and perhaps the Mara of the League will intrigue you, it may start off with Mara being 11 years old, but it is not a YA or Middle Grade book in my opinion. It is very much an adult concept with a younger protag, and with each book she grows and her adventure continues into her teens and through adulthood. It's available in KU!
I wrote Taking Medusa a few years ago... and placed it aside, and I will admit re-reading through it fresh, I hadn't remembered all the things, and felt like I was reading someone else's romantasy book. I'm torn, because as a reader, just reading for catching typos or something that needed a bit more clarity, I find I'm sad that this book isn't a RH (reverse harem, why choose) because I like them both! Why did I do this to myself?
There was a scene that really stuck with me while editing Taking Medusa:
"When you are young there are too many distractions to read the signs exploding in front of you, to parse out the infatuation, the need to possess, and the greed from the very subtle ingredients that make up truth. I have lived a long life, and I can see our truth. From the moment I laid eye son you I saw the signs, but they were much too subtle to do more than give me pause. That pause saved my life."
Now, he had me even more confused. Wasn't it my life that he had spared?
Gently, he hooked my chin with a finger and tilted it towards him. He had moved his chair and was leaning in close. His bright blue eyes soft and comforting like a summer night with the sound of waves lapping at the shore.
I didn't speak.
"Why do you think I was so upset when I found you had been sent to the dungeon?"
"To make me think you hadn't set up everything, so I was sent there to begin with," I told him the truth of his fancy lies. He thought I wouldn't know that I hadn't been told by everyone he was just itching for mt o screw up and be sent there. I wasn't going to fall for his beautiful blue eyes, and his charming, chiseled face with that dumb blue-white hair, and goatee looking like some sort of punk-rock star. Get a hold of yourself, Aless.
He shook his head. "I did want to send you there for a day so Dion would be forced to stop keeping you from me, but I changed my mind after you stormed into my rooms. You made me acknowledge the monster inside of me, and I knew then that your heart was fierce enough to stand up to a god, and much too precious to be won by force. You were right about everything, and I want to earn your virtue, Aless. I want it to be freely given and one day I can be worthy of such a gift."
All the feels! <3 I want them to KISS sooo BAD right here. He's such a misunderstood god, and I love it! He's so darkly yummy.

You are safe to keep him as a mate under my care, but many do not approve of human mates due to fear we are wrong about the reasons your DNA degrades so quickly. In Trillix tongue, humans are called those who breathe death, and we only send communication holograms to deal directly on the planet."
So, all I needed to do was tell them he was not my mate... and they would release him back to his planet? I was free to return to Earth, but knowing I could do nothing but wait and pray they were successful in preventing a war? Either they were very good at knowing exactly how to manipulate me, or my instinct was right about aliens all along.
