Welcome to the smuttier side of romance books with alien peens and the mates that love them.
Some people have spring cleaning, I do fall winter clean up so that I can prepare for hibernation into my house, nesting after peeking my head out for summer.
I usually send out my emails on Friday, not Saturday, but I got caught up in my deep clean of my house. I've been going room by room, space by space in my house, and organizing, cleaning out, wiping down, and not just tidying up but disinfecting and decluttering.
Every so often I get the cleaning bug in me and get obsessed with the task. I've scrubbed and made practically brand new 2.5 bathrooms, swept and steamed several floors, vacuumed carpets and couches. Yes, I took every cushion off. I used a toothbrush in the bathrooms to get the nooks a regular scrubber couldn't get to, and did so many loads of laundry, dishes, counters, floors, bags of toys from the kids, and I guess this cleaning bug couldn't have come at a better time for the invasion of the fruit flies 2023 instigated by a stray carton of blueberries my son wanted to add to his picnic basket and were hiding underneath a large bag of goldfish.
I thought this was the only culprit, until I cleaned, and found the bags of clothes he'd grown out of that were gifted back to us from his bio mom (I have to add bio to the title since saying just mom may confuse people when I just said I'm his mom and he's my son...) had a mysterious brown bag underneath some clothes, and as I was going to sort through the clothes to donate them a plume of flies burst forth and I found the secret home base of the fruit fly invasion. I was about to blame this whole invasion on my son for hiding his blueberries, but that was merely one of the armies, and the real threat was hiding in the clothes giveaway bag!
Thankfully, I can report that there are only a few surviving fruit flies searching out for food, unable to find a new home, and the invasion was thwarted. And after two days of straight non-stop cleaning, even my daughter, who is four, said that I was working hard and should take a break. She was very good during this obsessive cleaning bout and created her own tornado (keeping it within the confines of her room) I stopped to feed her and she was always within ear shot or checking in on me, but this was serious cleaning business that took two full days, not just work-day hours, but full days from waking up to sleeping.
And I still did not actually finish cleaning up my own room. I cleaned everything else!
I guess that just goes to show you that psychologically speaking, it's easier to work your ass off for everything else other than for yourself or in an effort of procrastination of something else you could be doing for yourself.
The cleaning had to get done, but I avoided actually cleaning my own space within that large cleaning expedition. I cleaned my husband's side of the space, I cleaned my son's room, I cleaned living room, bathrooms, kitchen, even scrubbed behind the trashcans and wiped them down. Not my daughter's room because, well, she was having fun destroying that space while I was cleaning the others.
But, this is a long-winded way of saying, I felt really good about my space, and when it was all done (excluding my own stuff and my daughter's room) I was left with a sense of accomplishment and felt more free to finally do things for myself... and what did I decide to do?
I did a read along live on Instagram for Taking Medusa Chapter 3. (The first attempt was interrupted by screaming children. The second attempt my daughter climbed on my lap and passed out for a nap while I was reading.)

That was yesterday towards the end of the day, and this morning I opened up a friend's newly released book and started reading it, Ugly Angels by Brien Feathers: https://www.amazon.com/Ugly-Angels-Brien-Feathers-ebook/dp/B0CH31KLBV
I'm already 33% through the book and loving it so far! I don't normally read third-person POV, but I really enjoy Brien's style of writing it, since it still has a first-person POV feel to it. And of course, Vampires, and Fae!
My house is clean, and I'll probably knock out cleaning my own stuff today, but even though I loathe cleaning, it feels good and it's a fresh start to get things done with the kiddos starting up school again, and fall is now in season!
