On Breaking the Pattern Without Erasing Where You Came From

NEW VIDEO

Peace, God's Mercy and Blessings on you!

There is something worth keeping from those who came before us.

Their strength. Their faith. The way they survived things we will never fully understand. The love they passed down even when they didn't have the language for it. My own grandma comes to mind with her milk tea and buttery toast, which I had every weekend when I was a girl. Later in life when expecting my first child it was just those two things which helped stop my nausea.

But our ancestors also carried things. Patterns. Pain. Ways of being that were never theirs to begin with, handed to them the same way they were handed to us.

Honouring our ancestors does not mean carrying everything they carried. It means being discerning enough to know the difference between a gift and a wound.

That is what today's reflection is about.
