Hi Collective,
I want to hold space for you: the kind of restful space I want to hold for myself. If you're curious, read on.
We're tired, and we know rest is what we need. But rest is hard in our own homes, where the dusty baseboards and that messy drawer you really should get to keep calling your name.
As a mom, I'm noticing that my time at home is filled with big feelings, lots of words, and constant doing. I know I should rest, and yet I often feel like I can't until I've checked the productive things off my list. I've also been craving time with other women. But a book club doesn't work for me right now. I can't commit to finishing a book by a certain date. I want community, with peace and ease.
My introverted husband has a line he says all the time: "I want to be sitting beside you, even though we're doing separate things." It's become a running joke in our house, but it's also exactly what I think this community needs. To be in good company without having to talk, perform, or take care of anyone else. To share space and energy, while each of us tends to our own needs.
