Why Won’t These Flies Leave Me Alone?

Apparently, my brain keeps excellent records of the things I haven’t quite finished.

Fall is beginning to show itself around here, and I am more than ready for it.

Cooler mornings mean I can take my coffee out to the back deck, listen to the birds, and watch the dogs frolic around the yard. Apparently, they are as ready for cooler temperatures as I am.

After ending my summer with travel, home repairs, and routines that weren't particularly routine, I'm finding my way back into my groove. I even opened my planner to the correct date this week. Progress. 😂

But my brain is still hanging on to a few summer leftovers. Things it just won't forget. A handful of follow-ups and unfinished odds and ends.

I started calling them flies.

And somewhere between laughing at myself and trying to swat a few of them, I noticed something about the way I handle unfinished things. That sent me down a rabbit hole about rumination, waiting, and why that last little gap between almost done and done can sometimes feel so noisy.

That's what I found myself writing about this week in Swatting Flies.

So pour another cup of coffee, grab a blanket if your part of the world is cool enough for one already, and settle in. I think you might recognize a few flies of your own.

Read Swatting Flies on Olinda Services.

And while you're reading, here's the question I'm carrying with me this week:

What unfinished thing keeps buzzing back into your attention?
