Workshop 1 - Treating Complicated Grief, Bereavement and Loss
Sat, 26 March 2022 09:00 – 11:00
This workshop will focus on the process of helping bereaved individuals for whom loss impacts significantly on their mental health.
While grieving is a normal response to death and loss, some people experience a severe and debilitating grief. This can be related to previous experiences of loss or the impact of other factors causing depression and anxiety. This workshop will help delegates understand the core processes in grieving and help them support clients through that process - with an emphasis on clients who suffer extended, complicated and debilitating grief.
Different models of the grieving process will be examined and their implications for support and treatment. Recent research into the grieving process and related treatment options will be reviewed.

Workshop 2 - Advanced Skills in Treating Complicated Grief
Sat, 2 April 2022 09:00 – 11:00
This workshop will focus on specific advanced skills required for helping bereaved individuals with complicated grief.
Supporting clients suffering from the effects of complicated grief demands an empathetic, compassionate yet focused perspective by the counsellor. But what specific skills are required in complex cases of grief, bereavement and loss?
This workshop will help delegates understand the more complex processes in grieving and help them support clients through that process - with an emphasis on clients who suffer particularly extended, complicated and debilitating grief.
Different models of the complex grieving processes will be examined and their implications for support and treatment.
This workshop is the next step for those delegates who have already attended Treating Complicated Grief, Bereavement and Loss. However, counsellors who have experience of working in this area are welcome. The workshop will look in more depth at specific advanced concepts covered briefly in that session as well as exploring new topics. Recent research in this area, and the clinical implications for clinicians will be examined.
