Remember, remember ...
Dear ,
As November arrives, fireworks light up the night sky, dazzling with bursts of colour and patterns. Just as fireworks captivate and evolve year after year, our field as CBT therapists is ever-changing, illuminating new insights and approaches that enrich our work. Fireworks are powerful reminders of both tradition and innovation—rooted in centuries of celebration yet always sparking with fresh displays.
In CBT, we also need to balance time-tested methods with emerging developments. Staying updated on the latest developments in cognitive-behavioural therapy allows us to keep our practice vibrant and effective, offering clients the best of both established techniques and innovative strategies. New research, fresh perspectives on complex issues like trauma and self-esteem, and evolving approaches to digital therapy are reshaping our field in real time. Or latest workshop on fear of death (thanatophobia) captures some age-old fears which now have a modern twist.
This month’s newsletter brings together recent research highlights, practical strategies, and case studies to support your continuous growth as a therapist.
Just as fireworks draw our attention with their brilliance and dynamism, these insights aim to light up your practice, helping you stay at the forefront of CBT.
Together, let’s keep expanding our skills and knowledge, ensuring that our clients benefit from our dedication to lifelong learning and therapeutic excellence. A let's sparkle along the way.

Schema therapy (ST) is an integrative approach that brings together cognitive behavioral therapy, attachment and object relations theories. It was created by by Jeff Young in 1990 and has been developed and updated in several ways since then. Schema therapy is considered an effective way of conceptualizing and treating a wide range of adult emotional issues include personality difficulties. Some of the distinguishing features of schema therapy.
- more emphasis upon the development of current issues in childhood.
- more emphasis on the power of the therapist–client relationship
- more emphasis on understanding their clients' core emotional needs and how to meet those those needs adaptively in relationships.
- more emphasis on processing memories of negative childhood experiences, making use of experiential techniques to change related negative emotions.
In this introductory workshop we will look at the practical frameworks and techniques that are used in Schema Therapy and how they can be used with a wider range of clients. Participants will be able to assess their own schemas and consider how they impact on our lives and experiences of relationships.
