Hello Romance Readers,
While deep in the writing cave working on Betting on a Baron which is part of my Wagering on Love series, I found myself researching novels, short stories and poems to be discussed at Lady Theo's weekly literary salon.
During my search, I discovered Felicia Hemans' poems. Felica Hemans born September 25th, 1793 was one of the few female poets of the 19th century that received both criticism and praise equally for her work. She drew the attention and admiration of her male counterparts including, William Wordsworth, Percy Bysshe Shelly and that of Walter Savage Landor. By the early 1830's Felica's poetry had became popular both in Britain and in the United States, especially amongst female readers. It was said that Felica's work offered “a woman’s voice confiding a woman’s trials” which made her poems perfect fodder for Lady Theo and her guests to discuss.
