Dearly Beloveds,
Next up for me is Jazz Vespers at St. Peter's Church on Sunday, October 11, with the wonderful Adam Birnbaum and Mark Lewandowski.
As reported in my previous email, it is a lovely, gentle gig with the music interspersed throughout the service. Starts at 5 PM and ends at 6. It would be wonderful to see you there in person but, if you can't make it, you can livestream it. And livestreamed or in-person, it is FREE.
PLUS . . . I am super excited to reveal that I will be at the fantastic new downtown venue (literally steps from Rector Station subway, almost right outside).
. . . One Flight Up
It's a beautiful venue owned by drummer Joe Strasser and his friend Mark Quinn and ably run by the amazing Darcy Burke. They discovered it on Facebook Marketplace (!) and took it over, doing a spectacular job on the reno. Apparently, there used to be a sort of brothel upstairs, which got busted in a sting operation a couple of years ago. Luckily, that element is long gone, so no risk of being propositioned on the stairs.
