Happy New Year! I hope you enjoyed a wonderful and blessed Christmas and New Year with family and friends. Our Christmas was lovely, and 2023 has now arrived. The new year is a time when I reflect on the previous year, and plan for the New Year. January is a busy writing month as I play catch-up on deadlines.
Summer has finally arrived in Canberra, Australia, and the warmer weather is a welcome change after a cool and wet spring and start to summer. January is our summer break before school goes back in February. Being a cricket fan, I'm enjoying watching the test matches and Big Bash, and the Australian Open tennis will be starting next week!

Paperback Giveaway - The Bookshop of Secrets Or The Number of Love
My CCR selection is The Bookshop of Secrets by Mollie Rushmeyer, set in a small town on Lake Superior. I was intrigued by the old books in the story, and the pirate history on Lake Superior. Hope has survived a difficult upbringing, and she's looking for precious books that were owned by her late mother. Ronan is the grandson of the book store owner in town, and he has his own secrets, including a prosthetic leg from a work accident. I recommend The Bookshop of Secrets for contemporary romance readers who like romantic mysteries with emotional depth that address heavy issues with a relevant faith element in the story. My alternative paperback selection is a WW1 historical romance set in England. The Number of Love by Roseanna M. White is Book 1 in The Codebreakers series. Margo is a young and brilliant mathematician who works as a codebreaker in London, and Drake is a British Navy Officer who's undercover in Spain. Drake is injured, returns to London, and discovers the intriguing Margo is his sister's new best friend. I was fascinated by the codebreaking elements in the story. I recommend The Number of Love to historical romance readers who like WW1 English settings with a suspense subplot and a relevant faith element in the story. You can read my book recommendation here.
