Autumn is a time of change, both in nature and within ourselves. As the leaves turn and the days shorten, it's natural to experience shifts in our mood and well-being. It's important to recognize these changes and take proactive steps to care for our mental health. It is also a time for reflection, learning and growth. As the seasons in nature change, we are reminded how everything is connected and does not stand alone.
Our first workshop of October looks at the complex interconnection of anxiety and depression and how we can work with clients to help them deal with these two mutually reinforcing emotions. While people often treat anxiety and depression separately, we know that in the real world they very often present together.
Our second workshop looks at the fascinating topic of Single Session Therapy where we seek to treat a specific, defined, manageable problem alongside the client in just one session.
We are also pleased to announce our 'themed weekends' where both the Saturday and Sunday workshops are linked to a specific topic such as Bereavement, Schema Therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (contact us for discounted double tickets).
And finally be sure to book early for our popular annual Running a Successful Private Counselling Practice - the one day workshop that helps you plan, develop, and launch or relaunch your private psychotherapy practice.
Treating Comorbid GAD and Depression with CBT
Sat 5 Oct 2024 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM BST
Around 60% of people with anxiety disorders have also have comorbid depression. We also know that people with anxiety disorders and co-occurring depression have higher overall symptom severity and worse outcomes compared to either alone. While training and textbooks focus almost exclusively on protocols for treating anxiety and depression is isolation, the reality in practical clinical settings is that many clients present with both conditions. This practical workshop will examine some key techniques to help clients work on their comorbid anxiety and depression. We will focus on key questions such as which should be treated first? How do we manage psychoeducation? What might be the most useful therapeutic goals in comorbid cases? What are the protocols for transdiagnostic approaches such as the Unified Protocol?
